Cantilever Free Multistable Magnetic Lift Actuator for Large Out-of-Plane Displacements

We present a cantilever-free multistable magnetic lift actuator capable of achieving large out-of-plane displacements of up to 3.47 mm while maintaining five predefined stable positions without continuous energy consumption. Switching between stable positions is achieved through short current pulses and can be completed in just 4.1 ms. Our results indicate that the design allows for easy customization of the number and distance between the stable positions.

Abstract

We present a cantilever-free multistable magnetic lift actuator capable of achieving large out-of-plane displacements of up to 3.47 mm while maintaining five predefined stable positions without continuous energy consumption. Switching between stable positions is achieved through short current pulses and can be completed in just 4.1 ms. Our results indicate that the design allows for easy customization of the number and distance between the stable positions.
