Demonstration of a Quasi-optical Bridge for a 263 GHz TWT-enhanced EPR Spectrometer

A low-loss, quasi-optical bridge is built for a 263 GHz TWT-enhanced, pulsed EPR spectrometer. By enabling free-space propagation via quasi-optical components, the system minimizes signal attenuation and ensures robust isolation for the transmitter and receiver stages. Measurements show a total insertion loss below 3.5 dB from the TWT source to the sample resonator, with up to 35 dB of isolation. This configuration demonstrates efficient, high-power millimeter-wave transmission for advanced EPR/DNP applications.

Abstract

A low-loss, quasi-optical bridge is built for a 263 GHz TWT-enhanced, pulsed EPR spectrometer. By enabling free-space propagation via quasi-optical components, the system minimizes signal attenuation and ensures robust isolation for the transmitter and receiver stages. Measurements show a total insertion loss below 3.5 dB from the TWT source to the sample resonator, with up to 35 dB of isolation. This configuration demonstrates efficient, high-power millimeter-wave transmission for advanced EPR/DNP applications.
