Microfabricated Biodegradable Poly (L-Lactic Acid) Resonators

Growing environmental concerns associated with conventional microelectronics have spurred the development of sustainable alternatives. Poly-L-Iactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer, offers a promising solution due to its inherent piezoelectric properties. This study explores PLLA’ s piezoelectric behavior by fabricating and analyzing coupled cantilever-type PLLA resonators. Evaluated results indicate a generated voltage of 9.85 mV at resonance peak 10.315 kHz, measured with a charge amplifier circuit with 10 pF feedback resistor. This work shows the high potential of PLLA-based piezoelectric devices for next-generation sensing and actuator applications, providing an environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional materials in microelectronic systems.
