A Stabilized-Flow Packaging Method for Enhanced Interference Resistance in Electrochemical Velocity-Type Vector Hydrophones

This work proposes a stabilized-flow packaging method that enhances the interference resistance of electrochemical velocity-type vector hydrophones to fluid noise disturbance. The packaging design incorporates a stabilized-flow channel, which effectively isolates low-frequency, large-amplitude fluid disturbances from underwater acoustic signals. This prevents disruption of the ion concentration field near the sensitive electrodes, which enables reliable sensor operation under complex underwater environments. Experimental results showed that the proposed vector hydrophone reduced steady-state recovery time by 93.9%, maintained a flat frequency response from 5 to 100 Hz, and achieved a sensitivity of - 174.2 dB at 5 Hz (1x differential amplification). It reliably detects target acoustic signals even in complex fluid disturbance environments, providing a practical solution for deploying electrochemical vector hydrophones in marine exploration.
