ARC of Safety
Bay of Bengal is currently synonymous with tropical cyclone twice in a year in the period of May and October. In these circulations wind speed typically ranges from 70 KMPH to 267 KMPH in last 25 years of statistical analysis. Of all event super cyclone 1999 only crossed the wind speed of > 250 KMPH. The experimental data set of all creation and the landfalls reveal few interesting observations. Out of them commonality of their patterns, direction and behaviours are analyzed in detail to draw some striking conclusion. The land fall areas indicate a safe region for Integrated Test Range located near Chandipur on sea. As per 12 major/minor circulation observed during last quarter of century all circulations evaded the safe region the notch spanning the length of 110 KM and depth of 40 to 45 KM.
