A Dual Motor Teeter-Totter Inertial Sensor with High SNR and Wide Bandwidth for Bone-Conducted Voice Detection
This paper reports on the development of a novel single-axis, dual-motor teeter-totter inertial sensor optimized for detecting voice-induced bone vibrations and other applications where a sensor bandwidth of 4 kHz or more is desired. It is critical to capture a clear, intelligible speech signal in challenging environments. Hence, this voice vibration sensor (V2S) is designed to address this issue and enhance communication reliability. The developed sensor, along with its digital Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), offers a unique performance combination of 4 kHz bandwidth and a 61 dBA signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in a compact <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$3 \text{mm }\times 2.3 \text{mm }\times \mathrm{O}.93\text{mm}$</tex>. package, with a power consumption of just 1 mW-significantly outperforming currently available commercial devices.
