Scalable High-Gain Slotted Waveguide Antenna Element for Phase-Locked Magnetron Arrays

An S-band scalable high-gain slotted waveguide antenna element (SHGSWAE) for a phase-locked magnetron array (PLMA) is proposed. The SHGSWAE consists of a T-shaped power divider, a rectangular block, and two slotted waveguide linear arrays (SWLA). Simulation results show that, compared to a single SWLA with a gain of 16.79 dBi, and an aperture efficiency (AE) of 69.18%, this SHGSWAE achieves a gain of 20.75 dBi, and an AE of 81.57%, representing a 12.39% improvement in AE. Additionally, an array formed by two SHGSWAEs achieves a gain of 24.26 dBi, and an AE of 89.18%. Compared with a single SHGSWAE, the AE increases by 7.61%. The further improvement in AE indicates that the gain level of the array is not degraded by mutual coupling between the antennas. This shows the SHGSWAE has excellent scalability and can be well applied to PLMAs.
