Experimental Results of Dual-Electron Beam Traveling Wave Tube

The development goal of the multi-beam-based TWT (Traveling Wave Tube) system is to reduce its size while effectively amplifying RF sources. Achieving this objective requires overcoming the significant deviation of the electron beam from its center position as it passes through the radial magnetic field. This deviation ultimately weakens electron beam transmission, thereby degrading the performance of the TWT amplifier. In this study, we aimed to investigate and advance a dual-beam TWT system operating in the 81–87 GHz frequency range through experimental analysis. In our research, the dual-beam-based TWT system achieved an output power of 1047 mW, corresponding to a gain of 13.39 dB at a frequency of 81.5 GHz.
