Design of High-Extinction-Ratio Quantum Well Modulator Based on Multimode Interference Waveguide by Deep Learning

A multimode interference optical modulator with a high extinction ratio is designed using deep learning. The extinction ratio of a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$76-\mu \mathrm{m}$</tex>-long MMI modulator is expected to be 50 dB at an operating voltage of 2.6 V.

Abstract

A multimode interference optical modulator with a high extinction ratio is designed using deep learning. The extinction ratio of a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$76-\mu \mathrm{m}$</tex>-long MMI modulator is expected to be 50 dB at an operating voltage of 2.6 V.
