Design and Simulation of a Sheet-Beam Electron-Optical System for Q-Band Traveling-Wave Tube
The electron-optical system (EOS), consisting of a beam-forming electrode (BFE), double anodes, and a set of period cusped magnet-tunable quadrupole magnet (PCM-TQM) system, is proposed for a Q-band traveling-wave tube (TWT) in this manuscript. Under the condition of an ideal cathode emission surface, a beam of cross section 0.8 mm × 0.15 mm is generated and passes through a 45-mm-long drift tunnel of cross section 1.2 mm × 0.35 mm, with a transmittance of 97%.
