A Design Scheme of Compact 648MHz/1.2MW Klystron with Loading Meta-Material for CSNS-II
A compact and miniaturized 648 MHz klystron with loading meta-material is designed and present in this conference paper, which is used for proton linac of CSNS-II. The simulation results show that at 648 MHz the output power of 1.28 MW could be obtained, the corresponding small signal gain is 38.5 dB, and the electronic efficiency is 64.5%, where the working voltage is 100 kV. By using the cavity with the meta-material disk inside, the length and radius of cavities chain of klystron are reduced respectively. The compact klystron amplifier source will not only benefit the application with limit space such as large particle accelerator and particle medical therapy, but also be beneficial for reducing costs.
