Experimental Verification of the Double-Ridge Staggered Vane (DRSV) Structure for Ultra-Wideband High-Power TWT Applications

To overcome the bandwidth limitations of traditional sheet-beam traveling wave tubes (SB-TWT) operating at high power levels, we previously proposed an innovative Double-Ridge Staggered Vane (DRSV) structure. This design presents an effective solution for achieving ultra-wideband, high-power TWT performance in the millimeter-wave and terahertz frequency ranges. In this study, we have experimentally verified the DRSV structure by measuring its S-parameters and dispersion characteristics. The experimental results are in excellent agreement with simulation data, demonstrating favorable transmission properties and a dispersion characteristic supporting a relative bandwidth operating exceeding 50% (20-35.5 GHz). These findings confirm the DRSV structure's potential for wideband operation in high-power applications.
