GO/Pyrene-Based Nanotexturing Surface Switched by Dynamically Displaying Electric Field

Reconfigurable surface topographies are essential for the spatiotemporal control of migrating cell morphologies and oriented cell migration. In this study, we propose a pyrene-bound graphene oxide (GO/P) film and demonstrate reconfiguration of its surface topography through the application of an electric field. Underwater, the GO/P film experienced electrostatic repulsion forces from the negatively charged silicon nitride membrane, resulting in a nanoscale mechanical lift. We experimentally demonstrated three-dimensional topographic textures on the GO/P film that were switched by electric field patterns. Moreover, the dynamic control of microsphere locomotion was achieved by electrically reconfiguring the surface topographies of the GO/P films, indicating that our system may contribute to the development of programmable nanomechanical interfaces with biomorphic functions.
