Preliminary Analysis of a W Band Extended Interaction Klystron Amplifier
Extended Interaction Klystrons (EIK) efficiently amplify millimetre waves for use in communication, radar, medical imaging, security screening, and high-speed wireless communications. In this work, the preliminary analysis of a W band EIK amplifier is presented. The effect of the key dimensional parameters of an EIK unit cell that primarily affect the dispersion are discussed. A phase velocity, normalized with respect to the speed of light, between 0.25 and 0.4 is preferred in miniaturizing the EIK amplifier.
