Abstract

This work presents a coplanar strip-line Mach-Zehnder modulator with shallow-etched waveguides, achieving a microwave attenuation of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2.55 ~\text{dB} / \text{mm}$</tex> at 40 GHz and competitive electrooptic bandwidth, outperforming capacitive-loading modulators with a fivefold increase in density.
