Novel Azimuthally Segmented MIG-Type Electron Beam for Harmonic THz Gyrotrons
The mode competition is a major challenge in promoting the frequency of harmonic gyrotrons into the THz regime. We propose a novel MIG-type electron beam configuration that consists of azimuthally segmented beamlets designed to selectively enhance mode selection of the electrodynamic system. The advantage of the proposed method is demonstrated in a 1.2THz Third harmonic gyrotrons for DNP-NMR spectroscopy.
