Bandwidth Enhancement for Terahertz TWT by Inserting Slits in Staggered-Double Gratings

In order to enhance bandwidth for terahertz traveling-wave tube (TWT), a novel 2-slit staggered-double grating waveguide (SDGW) slow wave structure (SWS) is proposed. Under the same operation conditions and keeping the same grating width and height respectively, compared to the conventional SDGW, the high frequency characteristics and PIC simulation results show that the proposed 2-slit SDGW TWT both have lower loss and wider bandwidth.

Abstract

In order to enhance bandwidth for terahertz traveling-wave tube (TWT), a novel 2-slit staggered-double grating waveguide (SDGW) slow wave structure (SWS) is proposed. Under the same operation conditions and keeping the same grating width and height respectively, compared to the conventional SDGW, the high frequency characteristics and PIC simulation results show that the proposed 2-slit SDGW TWT both have lower loss and wider bandwidth.
