Performance Enhancement of an Infrared Source Through Flame Deposition of Candle Soot
In this study, candle soot with an average emissivity above 0.8 across the 2.5-25 μm infrared range was prepared via flame deposition. With such a simple method, the candle soot, which is an aggregation of nanoscale carbon particles, was patterned and further used as a radiation layer on an infrared source (IRS) to significantly reduce power consumption, enhance emission intensity thus to improve operational efficiency of the IRS. This approach offers a straightforward route to fabricate high-performance IRS units, showing strong potential for advanced gas sensing applications.
