Abstract

We present a silicon thermo-optic switch driven by pulsed voltage, achieving a sub- <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$3 \mu \mathrm{s}$</tex> response time, a significant improvement from approximately <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$20 \mu \mathrm{s}$</tex>, while maintaining a switching power below 3 mW.
