Corrosion Protection of Magnetoelastic Sensors for Enhancing Lifetime in Wirelessly Interrogated Biliary Stents

This paper reports on corrosion protection coatings for wireless magnetoelastic resonant sensors for implantable devices, with biliary stent monitoring as initial target. It reports coatings that allow the sensor lifetime in bile solution to exceed the patency duration of plastic biliary stents; it also reports the quantitative variation in sensor response that is attributable to corrosion.
