Design and Thermal Analysis of 0.2-MW High-Efficiency W-Band Magnetron with Axially Extended Interaction Space
We have designed a high-power W-band rising-sun magnetron with axially extended interaction space. The length of the cathode and anode is half guide wavelength of the operating mode, which is much greater than the free-space wavelength, thus enabling high emission current for high power operation. The Particle-In-Cell (PIC) simulation results in CST show that the magnetron could generate a high output power of 206 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{kW}(\sim 0.2\ \mathbf{MW})$</tex> at 93.6 GHz and a high efficiency of 92.5%. Thermal analysis has also been conducted and the temperature distribution in the magnetron has been obtained, confirming the effectiveness of water-cooling.
