Magnetic Field-Tunable Nonreciprocal Acoustic Transducer with Lorentz Force Interaction

Nonreciprocal devices are essential for enabling unidi-rectional signal transmission in modern wireless communication, signal processing, and sensing systems. This work presents a magnetically tunable two-terminal AlScN-based resonator leveraging combined Lorentz force interaction and piezoelectric coupling to achieve dynamic nonre-ciprocity. Under an applied magnetic field of 1600 mT, the device exhibits a maximum nonreciprocity of 21.41 dB and a corresponding phase difference <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$( \triangle_{\phi})$</tex> of 171 °, both occurring near the resonance frequency of 188 MHz within a tunable bandwidth of 2.375 MHz. The compact form factor and magnetic tunability of the proposed resonator enable high isolation, broad operational bandwidth, and chip-compatible integration, also eliminating the need for magnetic thin-film deposition and providing a scalable, energy-efficient solution for advanced RF and acoustic systems.
