Broadband Asymmetric Directional Coupler Based on SiN Waveguide Designed by Adjoint Method

An inverse-designed directional coupler based on SiN waveguide is proposed. The widths of the waveguides are asymmetrically modulated based on adjoint sensitivity analysis performed in beam propagation simulation. Broadband (a)symmetric splitting is possible.
