An Efficient Second-Order Numerical Scheme for Simulation of Complex Dynamics in Quantum Well Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs)

With a novel space-time grid arrangement, we develop a second-order numerical scheme for a traveling-wave quantum semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) model. The proposed method delivers significant simulation-time speedup compared to first-order methods.
