A High-Sensitivity Electrochemical Vibration Sensor with Fast Response and High Overload Resistance Capability

This paper presents a novel circuit architecture that significantly mitigates the inoperable issues of electrochemical vibration sensors under high overload or cold start conditions. Furthermore, a gain electrode structure is proposed to enhance sensitivity and reduce self-noise of the electrochemical vibration sensors. Current carrying capabilities of the circuit are elevated to effectively avoid the saturation related inoperable issues. 87.5% and 96.2% reductions in overload time and cold start time are achieved respectively. Gain electrode structure enhances device sensitivity by 947.1 % and reduces self-noise by an average of 15.4 dB across the entire tested frequency range, while maintaining the original bandwidth. The proposed electrochemical vibration sensor features fast response, high overload resistance, high sensitivity and low self-noise, hence can expand the practical applications.
