SignCraft: Khasi Sign Language Recognition Application
SignCraft is an innovative Smartphone application developed to assist the Khasi deaf community in communicating effectively through the recognition of signs in Khasi Sign Language (KSL). The app utilizes hi-tech features like computer vision and deep learning to identify the gestures. It uses the TFLite model based on CNN for correct gesture recognition. Some of the gestures that KSL users can make can be captured effectively by smartphone and translated into written language for increased functionality and convenience. Composed of deep learning algorithms and using Google’s Firebase for real-time data management, SignCraft not only enhances communication but culture as well by enhancing the bond between people, their language, and culture. It is for this reason that this innovative tool will go a long way in the realization of inclusion, equality, and promotion of Khasi culture.
