Mode-Preserving, 3D-Printed Taper Between Silicon Photonic Chip and Rectangular Core Fiber

The design, optimization and implementation of a 3D-printed interposing taper waveguide for efficiently and mode-preservedly coupling to/from thick silicon four-mode, dual-polarization waveguide and rectangular-core optical fiber is reported, having low losses and excellent selectivity.
