Topology Optimization for a Broadband Polarization Splitter-Rotator Based on Lithium Niobate-on-Insulator
A broadband and efficient polarization splitter-rotator is designed through topology optimization. The device exhibits <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$<0.27 \text{dB}$</tex> loss and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$<-20 \text{dB}$</tex> crosstalk over a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$300-\text{nm}$</tex> bandwidth with a short length of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$300 \mu \mathrm{m}$</tex>.
