Polarization Maintaining Fiber with Fluorine-Doped Stress Rods

A novel polarization-maintaining fiber with fluorine-doped stress rods has been designed and fabricated. The fiber exhibits optical properties compatible with standard single-mode fiber and polarization extinction ratio of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$41 ~\text{dB} / \mathrm{m}$</tex> at 1310 nm.

Abstract

A novel polarization-maintaining fiber with fluorine-doped stress rods has been designed and fabricated. The fiber exhibits optical properties compatible with standard single-mode fiber and polarization extinction ratio of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$41 ~\text{dB} / \mathrm{m}$</tex> at 1310 nm.
