A Hybrid IoT Asset Tracker based on LoRaWAN and LEO Networks for the Amazon Region
Asset tracking in the Amazon presents substantial challenges due to adverse logistical conditions, including limited road infrastructure and restricted network coverage in remote areas. These difficulties often result in product losses and delivery delays. To address these issues, this paper proposes the development of a hybrid IoT asset tracker prototype. The device leverages LoRaWAN for geolocation data transmission in urban areas and LEO satellite communication in remote regions, effectively minimizing tracking losses along transportation routes. The results provide a detailed analysis and evaluation of the collected data, focusing on the tracker device’s signal quality and packet delivery performance along a predefined route.
