Free-Space Optical Communication Receiver with MMF and Photonic Processing Circuit

We propose a free-space optical receiver with multimode fiber (MMF) and photonic integrated circuit (PIC) composed of tunable Mach-Zehnder interferometers. The wavefront distortion inside the MMF is adaptively corrected by the PIC, enabling misalignment-resilient operation.

Abstract

We propose a free-space optical receiver with multimode fiber (MMF) and photonic integrated circuit (PIC) composed of tunable Mach-Zehnder interferometers. The wavefront distortion inside the MMF is adaptively corrected by the PIC, enabling misalignment-resilient operation.
