Colour Sensitivity on the OLED Smartphone Display
This paper presents the results of experiments concerning the background color settings of OLED displays in recent mobile phones. The performed investigations are characterized by highlighting the link between the energy consumption and the predominant color of the screen background while using various mobile applications. The innovative/novelty character is demonstrated by the fact that the investigations described in this contribution experimentally demonstrate a reduction in power consumption from the battery by setting the screen colors, and not by running software applications that operate on the principle of dimming the screen brightness - a common practice among mobile smartphone manufacturers. So, the display of a smartphone is the device under test (DUT), and the operation mode is set by the running applications such as internet browsers, social media apps, multimedia apps, etc.Research results on power absorption and runtime can be extended to multimedia consoles in cars, gadget displays, smartwatches and others.
