A study of the reproducibility and repeatability of chaotic systems computation in the context of lightweight cryptography for edge sensor applications

This study explores the application of chaotic systems in the context of lightweight cryptography for edge sensor applications. Chaotic systems offer promising characteristics such as high sensitivity to initial conditions and pseudo-randomness, making them suitable for secure and efficient cryptographic operations in edge sensor applications. To evaluate the reproducibility and repeatability of chaotic map computations, experiments were performed on microcontrollers. These devices differ in their computational resources, particularly in their hardware support for floating-point operations. The study was carried out according to ISO 5725 Parts II and III standards to ensure a rigorous evaluation of reproducibility and repeatability. The results demonstrated consistent and reproducible behavior across all tested platforms, validating the computation of chaotic systems for lightweight cryptographic implementations in edge computing scenarios.
