Magnetic Field Influence on the Content of Steroidal Glycoalkaloids and Derivatives under Drought Conditions in Tomatoes

In this paper, the effect of a magnetic field on two tomato genotypes under drought conditions was investigated. A static magnetic field stimulation setup for exposing plants to the magnetic field is presented. The simulation of magnetic field distribution is done using the developed application. In Ailsa Craig, which has green leaves, the application of a magnetic field under full irrigation and drought conditions led to a decrease in steroidal glycoalkaloids and derivatives. The concentrations of these metabolites increase in Variegated tomato (green/white leaves) under drought conditions by applying a magnetic field. These results suggest that further research is needed to investigate how magnetic fields can modulate the metabolite profiles of plants under different environmental conditions.
