Enhancing Immersive Technologies with Olfactory IoT Devices: A New Sensory Frontier
This study introduces an Olfactory Virtual Reality (OVR) system that enhances immersion by integrating olfactory stimuli through IoT devices, AI models, and biofeedback mechanisms for personalized virtual environments. A notable innovation is a compact prototype device (155mm x 155mm x 75.49mm) equipped with dual cooling systems: a rear fan for aroma direction and a central blower to neutralize residual scents, facilitating smooth odor transitions. Ultrasonic atomizers allow for flexible scent generation by adjusting voltage (5V to 12V) based on substance thresholds. Key parameters, including flow rate, voltage, and concentration, were optimized for accurate scent emissions. AI models like SemiKong dynamically adjust flow frequency and vaporization timing using biofeedback. The system achieved high accuracy in olfactory segmentation, exemplified by a 92.42
