Assessing Walking Accessibility to Primary Schools Using Geographic Information System (GIS): A Case Study in Tanjungpinang City
This study seeks to assess the accessibility of builtup areas in Tanjungpinang City in relation to primary schools, based on a 400 -meter walking radius, equivalent to a 5 -minute walk, commonly referred to as a pedestrian shed. Utilizing the buffering method within the Geographic Information System (GIS), the analysis reveals that many built-up areas remain under-served by primary schools within this 400 -meter radius. Conversely, some areas have access to five or more primary schools within the same distance. These findings indicate that the distribution of basic education facilities in Tanjungpinang City is uneven, affecting the ease of pedestrian access for students.
