Damped Vibration Simulation Based on Coding Block Using Scratch Programming
Damped vibration is one of the concepts in mechanics that is difficult to understand because it involves complex mathematical approaches and physical phenomenathat are not easy to visualize. Therefore, the use of simulation is very necessary to facilitate the visualization of this phenomenonin mechanics lectures by applying its natural parameters. One of the powerful applications for developing simulations is Scratch Programming. This application is characterized by its ease of use, flexibility in modifying as it is a coding block, and itsability to visualize interactive animations. This research is carried out with research and development (R and D) methods that apply a modified waterfall model, consisting of the stages of definition, design, development, testing, and analysis. The results of this study show that a simulation of damped vibration with Scratch programming that meets the standards of use in science learning, especially mechanics lectures, has been produced. After going through the implementation of limited trials, it was found that the damped vibration simulation using Scratch programming received a good response fromstudents and helped improve their understanding of the concept. As a recommendation, the application of coding block-based programming, one of which is with Scratch, can be developed for other science materials, especially in topics that require visualization or animation to represent concepts so that they are easier to understand.
