Mathematical Simulation on Smelting Vanadium-bearing Titanomagnetite by Oxygen Blast Furnace

The new process of oxygen blast furnace with only tuyere injection (TI) or both tuyere injection and shaft injection (TI-SI) was effective to smelt vanadium titano-magnetite(VTM). The mathematical simulation of vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite-oxygen blast furnace (VTM-OBF) had been conducted in this work. It was shown that the VTM-OBF had relatively high CO concentration with a maximum of 95%. The indirect reaction rate of ferric oxide was accelerated and the reduction degree above the cohesive zone was improved visibly. Compared with the traditional VTM-BF, corresponding to TI and TI-SI, the production of hot metal increased from 3456.7 t/d to 4310.6 t/d and 4310.6 t/d. Additionally, the coke rate decreased from 412.9 kg/tHM to 366.2 kg/tHM and 315.7 kg/tHM. The concentration of V in the hot metal decreased to 0.284% and 0.280%, and the Ti concentration decreased to 0.195% and 0.189%, both exhibiting a downward trend. The CO2 emissions decreased from 1517.27 kg/tHM to 1228.7 kg/tHM and 1060.4 kg/tHM. It was expected to enhance the reduction of vanadium oxides for ensuring [V], and some measures like increasing the theoretical combustion temperature or coal rate should be taken into consideration carefully in the following work.
