<scp>CFD</scp> analysis of mixing homogeneity and mass transfer synergy in a three‐blade planetary mixer
Abstract The aim of this article is to investigate the liquid–liquid mixing homogeneity of a three‐blade planetary mixer as a function of the motion parameters and the mixing time using the field synergy theory and combining experimental and computational fluid dynamics methods. The results are as follows. Increasing the absolute speed can quickly enhance the synergistic effect between the velocity and concentration fields in the initial stage of mixing, effectively improve the convective mass transfer efficiency, and therefore reduce the mixing homogeneity time. The effect of the speed ratio on the mixing homogeneity time decreases along with the increase of the absolute speed. Finally, the relationships between the mixing homogeneity, the mixing time, and the motion parameters (the absolute speed and the speed ratio) are established based on dimensional analysis, which achieves an accuracy greater than 90%.
