Improved Method to Reduce the Losses of PT‐Symmetric Wireless Power Transmission System Based on Switching Inverter Principle
ABSTRACT The parity‐time (PT) symmetric wireless power transmission (WPT) system can achieve stable constant power and efficiency within its PT‐symmetric region. However, its practical application is still limited by high system losses and the reliance on a front–end DC‐DC converter for voltage regulation. To address these issues, an optimization method for the PT‐symmetric system based on a switching inverter principle is proposed in this study. By treating the coupling structure as an energy storage element and mimicking the operation principle of switch‐mode power supplies, a control circuit is designed to regulate the operation state of the inverter. In “on” state, the system outputs AC to maintain resonance; and it outputs DC to disrupt the resonance in “off” state. The switching frequency of the switches is reduced by this control mechanism and the system can be achieved voltage regulation. It is shown by simulation and experimental results that the proposed method significantly reduces switching losses while preserving the parity‐time reversal symmetry (PT symmetry) of the system, enables voltage step down at the primary side, and eliminates the need for a front–end DC‐DC converter, effectively reducing overall system losses.
