A Proposal for Practical Criteria on the Application of Blood Transfusion Consent Forms
Written consent for a transfusion is legally required. On the other hand, each medical institution has established individual policies because of the absence of clear standards regarding the timing and validity period of consent. The latest transfusion guidelines in Korea provide example timings for obtaining consent, but they do not fully reflect the variety of clinical situations.Establishing a standardized validity period for transfusion consent, regardless of the clinical context, could be a practical and reasonable approach to reducing the burden on patients and healthcare providers.(
