Discussion on the Forensic Measurement and Assessment of Low-frequency Noise

In response to the frequent occurrence of low-frequency noise disturbing the public without exceeding standards, this paper puts forward suggestions in three aspects: measurement points selection, evaluation indicators, and standard selection. In terms of the measurement points selection, priority should be given to locations sensitive to structural noise. If these locations are difficult to determine, it is recommended to include areas close to walls within the scope of measurement points. In terms of the evaluation indicators, for situations where the noise complies with the A-weighted sound level and octave band limits but individuals still feel disturbed by the noise, it is recommended to adopt the RC Mark II evaluation method to conduct a comprehensive assessment of noise quality. In terms of standard selection, for noise generated by equipment such as elevators in residential buildings, it is recommended to give priority to "Project code for residential building" (GB 55038-2025), "General code for building environment"(GB 55016-2021)、"Standard for limits and measurement methods of vibration in the room of residential building" (GB/T 50355-2018) and "Forensic measurement and assessment of noise in living environment" (SF/T 0109-2021).
