Research on Tourists' Travel Intention in Volcanic Geoparks Based on Decision Trees and Random Forests

As highly attractive natural and cultural heritages, volcanic geoparks require rational development and protection. Analyzing tourists' travel intentions is conducive to the management and sustainable development of these parks. Taking the Huguangyan Scenic Area in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, China as an example, this study conducts an analysis of the travel intentions of tourists with different travel purposes through a questionnaire survey of 513 tourists, and by adopting the methods of decision trees and random forests. The results show that the attraction of volcanic lake mineral water and volcanic mud to tourists, the development status of folk culture, historical and cultural landscapes, and the popularity of the scenic area are important influencing factors of tourists' travel intentions towards volcanic geoparks. The conclusion is that volcanic geoparks should deeply develop tourism products centered around volcanic lake mineral water and volcanic mud, and at the same time, give consideration to the development of folk culture and historical and cultural landscapes to maximize the tourism attraction of volcanic geoparks.
