Two-layer fuzzy control-based energy storage participation in offshore wind power transient stability enhancement

Abstract With the rapid growth of offshore wind power integration, dynamic interactions between wind farms and receiving-end grids exacerbate transient voltage instability. Energy storage system (ESS), as a fast-response transient regulation resource, can meet the offshore wind power system’s transient reactive power support requirements through optimal configuration and precise control. Based on this, this article proposes a two-layer fuzzy control strategy for ESS to address the issue of multi-type voltage stability at the receiving end. The upper-level controller calculates the ideal reactive power reference based on voltage deviation and its rate of change, while the lower-level controller dynamically adjusts the reactive power command according to the state of charge (SOC) to prevent overcharging or overdischarging. The experimental results show that the proposed strategy enables ESS to provide dynamic reactive power support while considering SOC, improving the transient stability of offshore wind power grid-connected systems.
