Strength assessment of filter shaft based on fluid-solid coupling analysis

Abstract A comprehensive numerical simulation of the internal flow field of the filter was carried out by using FLUENT software to reveal the flow characteristics of the fluid inside the filter under different working conditions. Based on the fluid-solid coupling method, combined with the fatigue strength theory, the stress distribution and strength assessment of the filter rotating shaft under different working rotation speeds and fluid viscosity conditions were analyzed. Numerical simulation results show that both static and fatigue strength met the design requirements despite the local stress concentration of the rotary shaft. This study not only elucidates the interaction mechanism between the flow field and the structural response, but also provides a reference for preventing the rotating shaft from breaking due to fatigue and optimizing the design of the filter rotating shaft.
