A rapid detection method of trace sulfides in hydrogen gas based on gas chromatography-ion mobility spectroscopy

Abstract This article is based on the detection method of trace sulfides in hydrogen gas for fuel cell vehicles using GC-IMS (gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry). Sulfides in hydrogen gas are separated by non-polar GC (gas chromatography) columns and analyzed and detected in the negative ion mode of an ion mobility spectrometer. The resolution and sensitivity of the equipment for trace sulfides are optimized by evaluating instrument operating parameters such as hydrogen gas flow rate and drift column temperature. Through experimental verification, it has been proven that GC combined with IMS (ion mobility spectrometry) has high sensitivity in detecting trace sulfides in hydrogen gas, meeting the requirements of low concentration detection methods for sulfides in hydrogen gas used in fuel cell vehicles.
