Microstructural evolution and property enhancement of MnZn ferrite via nano YIG magnetic additives

Abstract MnZn ferrite has found increasing applications in various fields, particularly with the advancement of intelligent technologies. Additives are commonly employed in MnZn ferrite to optimize its performance. In this paper, the effect of nano-sized magnetic additive YIG on the microstructure and magnetic properties of MnZn ferrite is investigated. Although a small amount of nano YIG does not influence the formation of the spinel phase, it significantly alters the microstructure. When the nano YIG content reaches up to 0.021 wt%, its strong fluxing effect causes MnZn ferrite grains to coalesce and significantly impedes the densification process. Both permeability and resistivity were influenced by the nano YIG addition, exhibiting a trend of initial increase followed by a decrease. The optimal sample exhibits excellent performance, with an initial permeability of 9500, saturation magnetic induction of 500 mT, Curie temperature of 163 °C, and a temperature coefficient of permeability of 4.93 × 10 –7 °C –1 , demonstrating strong potential for practical applications.
