ENTRE O MEDO E A ESPERANÇA: SENTIMENTOS DE MULHERES GRÁVIDAS COM DIAGNÓSTICO DE COVID-19 DURANTE O PARTO EM UMA MATERNIDADE PÚBLICA DA AMAZÔNIA

Abstract The Covid-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges to global public health, significantly affecting the experience of pregnancy and childbirth. In Brazil, where the Unified Health System (SUS) faces historical limitations, pregnant women diagnosed with Covid-19 experienced childbirth in a context marked by uncertainty, fear, and emotional overload. This article aims to investigate the predominant feelings experienced by pregnant women with a positive Covid-19 diagnosis during childbirth in a public maternity hospital located in the interior of the Amazon region. The research is based on the understanding that childbirth is a unique event, emotionally charged, and that in times of health crisis, these emotions are shaped by factors such as social isolation, lack of hospital resources, absence of companions, and insecurity regarding the clinical progression of the disease. The methodology adopted was qualitative, with semi-structured interviews conducted with postpartum women attended between March and June 2020, a critical period of the pandemic. Data were analyzed using content analysis, allowing the identification of categories such as fear, frustration, loneliness, hope, and gratitude. The literature review includes studies published between 2010 and 2025, highlighting authors who address maternal emotional health, obstetric nursing, and the impact of the pandemic on maternal care. The results indicate that the Covid-19 diagnosis intensified negative feelings already present in the childbirth experience, but also revealed resilience strategies and emotional support provided by health professionals. It is concluded that qualified listening, emotional support, and humanized care are essential elements to mitigate the psycho-emotional effects of the pandemic on pregnant women. The article also proposes directions for future studies that deepen the relationship between maternal mental health and crisis contexts, contributing to the improvement of obstetric practices within SUS. keywords: covid-19, pregnancy, maternal feelings, humanized childbirth
