Welcome to the New Metamaterial Column! [Editor’s Comments]

We are very happy to present to you, dear reader, a new column in IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine</i> that will be devoted to metamaterial theory, design strategies, and exciting applications. I am very grateful to Prof. Andrea Alù and Prof. Dimitrios Sounas for accepting to be the founding editors of this column. This issue features the column’s first contribution <xref ref-type="list-item" rid="list-itemA1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[A1]</xref>, magistrally introduced by the column editors, focusing on reconfigurability in metamaterials and metasurfaces with antenna system applications. More contributions will follow, aiming to disseminate exciting results and reviews on this key topic within our field to our community.
