PENINGKATAN KAPASITAS MASYARAKAT DALAM DETEKSI DINI STROKE DENGAN METODE FAST DI DESA UJUNGRUSI KABUPATEN TEGAL

Stroke ranks as the second leading cause of death globally, a position it has held for the last decade since 2023, with 12% of cases proving fatal. Delayed treatment due to a failure to recognize stroke symptoms can worsen the condition, increase the risk of recurrent strokes, and lead to death. One way to improve public understanding is through health education. This community service project aimed to enhance the ability of individuals at high risk of stroke to recognize early symptoms using the FAST method. The approach involved providing animated video-based education and early detection training using the FAST method to the community in Ujungrusi village. The training started with a lecture and a screening of an animated video on early stroke detection using the FAST method, followed by a discussion and a practical session on performing acute stroke detection with the FAST method. The target group for the training consisted of 50 high-risk individuals. Post-training evaluations showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and attitude scores. This demonstrates that the training was effective in improving the community's understanding and attitudes toward acute stroke detection using the FAST method. This increased awareness is crucial for minimizing the impact of stroke on at-risk groups.

Stroke ranks as the second leading cause of death globally, a position it has held for the last decade since 2023, with 12% of cases proving fatal. Delayed treatment due to a failure to recognize stroke symptoms can worsen the condition, increase the risk of recurrent strokes, and lead to death.
